Today I asked a question of a writers’ consortium I belong to, and here it is:

If you planned your career trajectory as a playwright, what were your benchmarks? What kinds of goals did you name, and how did you attain them? Did you emulate another and if so, who?

The second answer I received contained a link to this column by my colleague Donna Hoke, a playwright, journalist, children’s author, and crossword constructor.

It is such good advice, so well written, that I had to pass it along to you.
