Today’s gun is yesterday’s cigarette.
What do I mean?
In plays of the mid-20′ century, when a character was at a loss for words or action, they lit up a cigarette.
Now, they pull a gun.
Cigarettes have been outlawed from most theater stages, not to mention many municipalities, could guns please be next? It’s just too easy a choice for playwrights.
Stop being so lazy, colleagues!
